Main activities and responsibilities:

People Management:

  • Guide , motivate, control, train, assess and supervise Crewing, Rostering and Interline staff members in order to maintain and continuously improve staff competency and professional skills and make the airline benefit from a highly motivated, dedicated and professional team.
  • Design, implement and maintain standard procedures in all units of the Crewing, Rostering and Interline departments in order to reach the highest level of efficiency and flexibility in the company’s flight operations and be prepared for any change to company activities.
  • Monitor department performance and identify possible weaknesses in order to propose and, when applicable, implement corrective actions to maintain optimum performance.
  • Maintain contact with system providers in order to improve and develop existing systems and survey other providers to guarantee that the most reliable and cost effective tools are available in the department.
  • Delegate and organize administrative tasks through the Crewing, Rostering and Interline departments.
  • Ensure that the necessary levels of communication and knowledge-sharing exist within the relevant Operations departments within his remit to maximize efficiency.

System Management:

  • Manage and update the AIMS Crew Management System according to regulation and company rules.
  • Maintain contact with system providers in order to improve and develop existing departmental systems. Continually survey other providers to guarantee that the most reliable and cost effective tools are available in each area within his responsibility.

Planning:

  • Organize and supervise the long-term and medium term Crew planning process in order to optimize Crew members usage, within the legal and Company requirements.
  • Long and medium term hotel planning and contracting.
  • Take responsibility for the utilization of aircraft and crew resources and as such publish various AIMS reports for productivity, absenteeism, leave, per diems as available.
  • Provide relevant FTL reports to the Flight Operations Post holder and to the BCAA in order to ensure the relevant applicable regulations within the provision of the AOC.

In coordination with the Flight Operations Administrative Support Supervisor:

  • Ensure an efficient publication and update of the training plan.
  • Organize and supervise the long-term and medium term booking of training facilities after approval of the Training Manager.
  • Ensure timely publication and distribution of rosters to Air Belgium Crew members.

In coordination with the Flight Dispatch Supervisor:

  • Supervise the daily Crewing activities.
  • Supervise the daily hotel booking.
  • Monitor crew planning performance and identify possible weaknesses in order to propose and, when applicable, implement corrective actions to maintain optimum performance

Any other duties that aim to the achievement of the department objectives within individual competences.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Managerial experience (3 years) in an aviation operational environment preferably in a crewing function.
  • Very good knowledge of EASA Flight Time Limitations.
  • Analytical skills, creative thinking, problem solving and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, to prioritize, to be proactive and stress resistant.
  • Computer literate: Microsoft tools (mainly Excel and Access), one or several accounting system. Ability to prepare and deliver comprehensive presentation also essential
  • Strong aviation background with operational experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate great sense of diplomacy and tact without compromising the objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (other EU language are advantages).
  • Willing to travel and work outside regular office hours as required.

Purpose of the position

To organise, administrate and supervise the Crewing, Rostering and Interline departments in order to provide Air Belgium Flight Operations with optimum and cost-effective utilisation of the Company Crew resources in accordance with company and legal requirements as set in the Air Operator Certificate for current operations and future operations plannings.
